Official: Christina joins NBC's 'The Voice'

Christina Aguilera is coming to NBC.
The five-time Grammy winner has signed on as a coach/judge on Mark Burnett’s singing competition series The Voice.

Celebrity singers fill three spots on the judging panel so far, with Xtina joining Cee Lo Green and Adam Levine. Aguilera was first reported as being in talks for the show in an EW exclusive posted last week.

“I am so excited to be part of such a wonderful project that celebrates music and the talent behind it,” Aguilera said in a statement. “To be given the opportunity to help shape new artists’ careers and mentor them to see their dreams come to fruition is a task I welcome with open arms.mI am so happy to be working with fellow Grammy Award winners Adam and Cee Lo as I feel there is so much we can all bring to The Voice.”

Though launching any music competition series at the same time Fox’s American Idol is on the air remains perilous, the lineup gives NBC some heavy-hitting star power behind its show — and adds to Burnett’s impressive roster of reality casting coups. (Anybody who can sign Sarah Palin and Christina Aguilera for reality shows is a casting wizard.)

“When I decided to produce The Voice, I immediately knew that my first choice for a female coach had to be Christina Aguilera,” Burnett said. “Christina has a perfect voice and is an undeniable force in the music business. She is the epitome of The Voice.”

The Voice premieres on Tuesday, April 26.

Show’s celebrity coaches will perform ‘Crazy’ together to promote upcoming show
Looking to stoke enthusiasm for its upcoming singing competition show, “The Voice,” NBC is offering viewers an early taste of the show and its celebrity coaches.

In a 12-minute preview, the show’s four musician coaches – pop queen Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green (of Gnarls Barkley), Adam Levine (of Maroon 5) and country star Blake Shelton – will unite to perform Green’s hit Gnarls Barkley song “Crazy” on Thursday, April 21 from 11:35-11:47 p.m. ET, leading into that night’s “Tonight Show with Jay Leno” installment. In addition to the performance, the preview will include behind-the-scenes vignettes about the highly-anticipated series.

A second, two-minute version of the sneak preview will air Saturday, April 23 at 11:30 p.m. ET just before the start of that evening’s “Saturday Night Live.”

“The Voice,” inspired by the original Dutch show “The Voice of Holland,” will be hosted by Carson Daly and will debut Tuesday, April 26 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

After the premiere the show airs Tuesday, May 3 at 9 p.m. ET, and then segues to its regular time slot an hour earlier starting May 10.

The celebrity singers coach competing vocalists, who have the chance to win a recording contract and $100,000 — if they can survive the grueling and elaborate elimination process.

Yeah. I tried to watch that on NBC's site and it made me wait 2000 seconds to watch it after the AD. I don't know why it made me do that. I even refreshed it and went back on and it did the same thing.

Did it make you do that? Unless you watched it somewhere else. But why the frick would you make someone wait 2,000 seconds to watch a video?

My cousin actually auditioned for this show, her manager hooked her up to get to the main rounds and I'm not sure if she made it (I know that sounds weird but I think that's supposed to be kept private). Even if she didn't... she might have been in the same room as Christina. I can't wait for this and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for the Minneapolis auditions!

i hope this gets shown on UK/IRE tv some time soon... does anyone know if it will? its times like these i wish i lived in America. actually, what am i saying?! i constantly wish i lived in America! it's not faaaaiiiiiir waaaahhhh

Does somebody know if there excist a site where people outside the US can watch the show? I can't wait videos (sneak peeks) from the official site of The Voice...it says that it isn't available in my country...

Hmm...I don't think there is a live feed. If it won't let you on NBC, I'm not really sure.

Maybe someone will have it on YouTube tomorrow.

Fun show! John and I really enjoyed. Seems the coaches play well off eachother and its interesting that not only are the participants competing but the coaches as well. makes for an interesting show!

Loved it from start to finish. Christina has a funny laugh!

I loved it! I really did.

But of course we got a huge thunderstorm and I missed half the show. I mean, of course, that would happen on the night I actually decide to watch something.

But they have the full episode on NBC. Thank god.

I was about to cry if I couldn't find it.
